1º Bachillerato - Adverbs of manner and Degree

ADVERBS OF MANNER (ADVERBIOS DE MODO)

These adverbs are normally formed out of Adjectives.
- Most of them add -LY to the adjective: careful - carefully
- Some are irregular: FAST and HARD have the same form for adjective than for adverb
                                  GOOD (adjective) - WELL (adverb)

ADVERBS OF DEGREE (ADVERBIOS DE INTENSIDAD)

These adverbs give a higher or a lesser degree in an intensity scale
A BIT - A LITTLE - NOT AT ALL - QUITE - REALLY - TOTALLY - FAIRLY - PRETTY - RATHER - SLIGHTLY - VERY
e.g. This soup is a bit / quite / slightly salty


POSITION: these adverbs modify an adjective or another adverb, so they are place before them. They can also be after verbs. If they are placed at the beginning of a sentence, they modify the whole sentence.
